Dr. Raosaheb Rathod

Dr. Raosaheb Rathod, MD (Medicine), DM (Gastroenterology), is a distinguished gastroenterologist. His educational background is extensive, including a DM in Gastroenterology from Tata Memorial Hospital (2017-2020), an MD in Medicine from Lokmanya Tilak Medical College and Sion Hospital (2013-2016), and an MBBS from Seth G.S. Medical College & KEM Hospital (2006-2011). Currently, he serves as a consultant gastroenterologist in Panvel, hepatologist, and interventional endoscopist at Medicover Hospital in Navi Mumbai. Earlier he served as an Assistant Professor at Tata Memorial Hospital, KEM Hospital in Mumbai and MGM Medical College and Hospital in Navi Mumbai.
Dr. Rathod’s areas of interest encompass advanced GI endoscopy (ERCP, EUS, EMR), biliary and pancreatic interventions, hepatology, GI oncology, and motility disorders. His professional experience is equally impressive. He has held positions as an Assistant Professor in Medical Gastroenterology at Tata Memorial Hospital (2020-2021), Senior Registrar in Medical Gastroenterology at Tata Memorial Hospital (2017-2020), Consultant of Medicine at Rao Nursing Home in Pune (2016-2017), Registrar in the Department of Medicine at LTMC & Sion Hospital (2013-2016), and completed his internship at Seth G.S. Medical College & KEM Hospital (2011-2012).
Currently, Dr. Rathod is engaged in several research projects, including investigating the prevalence and predictors of malnutrition and its impact on the quality of life and prognosis in patients with hepato-biliary tumors, examining long-term outcomes of palliative colonic stent placement in malignant colonic obstruction, exploring endoscopic dilatation in post-total laryngectomy stricture cases, evaluating the role of EUS-FNA in pancreatic cancer, and assessing the success rates of ERCP in patients with periampullary diverticulum.
Dr. Rathod has significantly contributed to medical literature, with publications on diverse topics such as clinical practices regarding hepatitis B screening in cancer patients, cases of gastric amyloidosis, and audits on the impact of endoscopic biliary drainage and malnutrition in biliary tract cancer patients. His work has been featured in respected journals like the Indian Journal of Medical Research, ACG Case Reports Journal, Digestive Endoscopy Journal, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Video- Endoscopy E-videos Journal.
Moreover, Dr. Rathod has presented his research at numerous international conferences. Notable presentations include his work on malnutrition in biliary tract cancer at APDW 2019 in Kolkata, the impact of endoscopic biliary drainage at ENDO 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, and post-total laryngectomy stricture dilatation at APDW 2021 in Kuala Lumpur.
